I applied to be a correctional officer at a federal prison. HR told me that they will do a Background check on me which includes, checking my driving record. My license have been suspended before and I have had traffic tickets. Will This affect me from getting the job? I haven't had any tickets in 3 years. I have no Points on my license either.
Answer:
They are checking your driving record for a few reasons. Mainly to make sure you are dependable (can make it into work), obey everyday rules, and if needed, you may have to transport inmates. The things in a driving record that will cause you to be turned down are reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, drunk driving or driving under the influance, loss or suspension of license, etc. These are red flags that you cannot conduct yourself in a responsible manner. However, parking tickets are usually ignored.
You mentioned that you have had a suspended license. If this is due to fines it will not help you get hired. However, if you have lost your license because you are a habitual offender or dangerous driver, it will most likey count against you in a large way.
They will also check your background as far as arrests, court appearances, etc. If the reason you lost your license involved you going to court, you might want to look elsewhere for a job. I have never seen anyone hired that had court issues.
If you haven't had a ticket in 3 years then it should not stop you from getting a job with BOP.
lmao they don't hire girls
depends what it was suspended for. failure to pay? DUI? You should be fine. Around here they hire cops with DUIs and even retail theft convictions
don't worry about your tickets thy care about other things
I've been through this. For one they are always hiring women. Second they do look at your driving history as your life's history. They will probably still hire you but they do look at that seriously. And if you lie about it, you can kiss your future good bye.

Will I be in jail for this?
We got on the train this morning with valid tickets, but we sat in the First Class. Then two staffs came to check the ticket and told us our tickets are not valid in the First Class so we have to pay 20 pounds fine each. We said we can leave, but they insisted that we have to pay. We are really so angry, firstly, we are foreigners here, we really did not know our valid tickets cannot be used in First Class on the same train; second, there was no sign or notice said this is First Class and we have to pay more if we want to sit in the First Class; third, the staffs got on the train with us at the same time, they should remind us, but they just directly came to us asking the fine, we really thought they were intented to do that. However we said we can leave or we can pay for the First Class, they insisted that we had no choice except paying the fine. I am so angry and I said to them: you are racist. They said they wil sue me for slander, what will happen to me now? Will I be in jail?
Answer:
No.
Did you breathe through all that?
If you paid the fine then nothing.
my concern is why you assumed they are racist for merely trying to enforce the law.
No way man
Pay the fine. You are European. You know better. Just pay the fine and forget it.
I doubt that you would go to jail but I don't know what country you're in. It sounds to me like they were trying to bilk you out of some money, possibly because they could tell you were foreigners and thought that you'd just go along with it.
i really dont think so.. you should have a case.. if you're not from there.. and there was no sign and you offered to move.. its not like you were being difficult and refused to leave..and the racist thing... did they get your name.. and i dont think that they can do much about that either.. you were making a comment.. you have the right... so im not sure where you were since you were a foreigner .. but dont worry.. i would think you have a case
You could be. "When in Rome.." Read signs; obey the laws.....wherever you are.......or stay home.or in your country where you know the rules.
looks like you are seeing when a first class ticket is bought and you are in their seat, it is like parking in a Handy capped parking, it is not to be done unless you have the correct ticket.
No, they won't throw you in jail just because you called them racist. However, were you aware that you were sitting in First Class seats?---cuz no matter where you are first class is always more expensive, but there should have been some staff standing there to check your tickets and permit you to enter in the first class section, if there was no staff and you did not know the section was first class because there was no signs then it is not your fault, and they should have given you the option of going back to regular seats--since they did not do so, this is their wrong-doing...so dont worry about it they have no reasonable claim to sue you.
You broke the rules. Clearly your English is good enough to post this question, it should have been good enough to read the signs on the doors (painted on the glass) that said "First Class Only"...
How was this "racist"? If a policeman arrested you for breaking some other law, would you consider that "racist", too?
Pay your fine. And pay attention!
UPDATE: You are a liar, you are not a "foreigner", you may be of Nepalese heritage but have stated in other answers that you were born in Britain! There is NO WAY you did not know you were sitting in First Class.
You brought shame to your mother! Shame on you!
I think you would already be in jail if you were going, I would have told them all to take a number , form a line and kiss my ****
You are foriegners, you will get away with it, only British nationals get stung for everything in this country! And sue you for slander for calling them racist? you will probably win that one too and they will be thrown in jail for racism!
People have to STOP playing the racist card every time things don't go their way. You broke the law and was asked to pay the fine for doing so. Stop whining and pay the fine. Next time say we are sorry we did not realize and don't be a smart *** and call someone a racist for doing their job.
I'm sorry...you sat in a section that was in no way marked "First Class", and some guys came around trying to get $20 from you?
Sounds like the "fine" was going to go right into the pocket of the guy who asked you. I'd turn this person over to the proper authorities.
He probably was profiling you, figuring that a foreigner would just pay and apoligise to avoid furtherr problems.
Yes you can, if they have your information; 1. They can send you the fine. When you don't pay for it then a warrant will be posted for your arrest. 2. They could've gotten the police to arrest you on site for Theft of Service. Ignorance of the law is not a defense.
For example, you're in this situation, "Sorry, I didn't know you couldn't smoke weed and drink alcohol in public." Do not pass GO, Do no collect $200. You're going straight to jail.
forget it they probably have already. incase they havn't write a letter of complaint to the rail company and send a copy of your tickets etc send it recorded delivery. that will make them realise that you are prepared to fight against them all the way.
No chance of you going to jail.
You acted quite poorly in a foreign country and you tried to claim racism to get your way. There's absolutely nothing racist about having to pay an up-charge for a first class seat. Everyone does.
If they sue you for slander (which I seriously doubt), there's nothing there that would even hint of a jail term.
Next time be nice and follow the rules. . and stop trying to get your way by accusing folks of being racist.please.
I'm sorry about the situation you found yourselves in. When one purchases a ticket, it is understood where the person would then be seated. The section, seat number, etc. are on the ticket. When boarding one should ask to be directed to the correct seat paid for. If there are no signs posted, you can always find an attendant to talk to. After you were told that you were seated in the wrong section, you should have been allowed to go to the correct seats you paid for without anyone mistreating you. If I were you, I'd contact the company you bought the tickets from and get information as to the proper procedure to lodge a complaint against the persons who were responsible for the misunderstanding. Please don't feel that everyone is racist against visitors from other countries. There are some of us who do not treat visitors from other countries badly. If necessary, contact an attorney and I wish you luck and hope this is resolved to your satisfaction.
well they are way out of order and you wont go to jail at all for the seek help from citizens advice and they will help you with everything also you could ask for the manager of the train station and tell him what happened and also you could call the ombunsman the citizen advice person can give you the number for them it was wrong what they did to you they were taking advantage of you because you are foreigners and they should get told off for that so i would go ahead and take it further
Read one of your previous answers, you were born here, you are not a foreigner and I'm sure our train staff get extremely peed off by people taking advantage and pretending not to understand they don't know what 1st class is! For goodness sake it says on the doors and (used to on the windows)
Why should you not pay if you've already made most of the journey 1st class for which you didn't have tickets?
Ignorance is no defence in the law.
Calling someone a racist in public if they are not is against the law. To be found guilty though, the victim of the slander has to have been caused some kind of provable damage. I think you can rest easy you won't be put in jail. Don't call someone a racist though, just because they've done something you don't like. The British are not stupid and know anyone, no matter what country they're from will be able to see there is a distinct difference between sections on a train. You were trying it on and had to pay.
Me not from here, me no understand. Come On.
You can work a computer and ask a question here. Don't you think a guard on a train has heard it all before.
I think 20.00 is not bad actually depending on your journey length.
Write to the Railway Company and explain
No question this with the railway police
If you lied to us about not being British, what else have you lied about in this question? Your credibility is shot, so you don't deserve an answer.
I think I jail's are full enough without sending u to jail for sitting in first class.
no as slander is a civil matter but I dont see why you decided the ticket inspector was racist he was only doing his job and hed have done the same if you were british, african, asian, american etc etc
It is highly unlikely that any action will be taken against you. If you believe that you were wrongly fined then you need to take this up with the Government Department which deals with the train in which you were travelling. I doubt very much if the Ticket inspector would have any chance of taking you to court over your calling them racist, and it is most difficult to sue for slander. I would seriously take the matter up with the Train authorities. If you explain your situation to them and you can show that you innocently sat in the First class and were not intentionally trying to defraud then you may have your fine refunded to you. In most cases they are very good and do try to help in matters where tourists from abroad are concerned. They want to promote a good impression of the Railway system here. I would not worry about going to Gaol though, that would never happen. Good luck
You can file the lawsuit against that staff or contact to the railway complain department.

Will i be able to collect my SS money?
i am american living overseas, i worked in america until i was 37 and plan on living in germany until i die, will i still be able to collect my Social security even if i would not have worked in america for 30 years?
Answer:
As long as you keep your citizenship.
Well, Dubya said that anyone born prior to 1950 had nothing to worry about. However, since HE said it, that makes it something to worry about.
Still, If you haven't paid into it, you can't collect, and I doubt this administration cares much for expatriates. Wait until the Dems come in in '08--maybe something good will happen then, who knows? I wouldn't bet the haus on it, though. . . .

Will Gore's son be as accountable as the rest of us?
Gore's son most definitely has a drug problem and has endangered many lives by his reckless lifestyles and habits. He should be sent to prison. He has had numerous treatment for drug abuse to no avail. If there is any justice in this U.S. he needs to go to prison.
What do you think? Is justice truly blind? If he goes to 'rehab" AGAIN is this justice for all? His father, Al., and mother are acting like 24 year old themselves at the expense of their children.
What is your opinion?
Answer:
Don't forget that Kennedy's son, Patrick, who's a politician in RI, was drunk and on drugs when he crashed through barricades near the capitol.
He didn't even get a ticket, so I doubt Gore junior will pay for his crimes either. If a Kennedy can get away with it, surely a Gore can too.
Hopefully as accountable as Mark Foley.
I think his father will blame global warming, and his mother Tipper will blame rock music.
What do you think has kept him out of jail up til now? I hate to answer a question with a question, but the answer is painfully obvious. Privilege!
I say...throw the book at him...
...the Scooter Libby book entitled, "How to leverage your influential friends and family to get you off even if you're convicted of breaking the law!"
It's derivative...but a much better read than Bill Clinton's book, "I did not have sex with that woman...unless by sex you mean sex?"
Prison is NEVER the answer to addiction. He needs MORE rehab and counseling. If he could get his addiction under control the reckless lifestyle would end. He may have endangered lives, but has not taken any. He is not a criminal. He's addicted. There's a huge difference and if it was YOUR child, I guarantee you'd think the same way.
It's not his fault-- it's global warming!
(I hope you got the sarcasm).
I agree with you- his son should face prison time for his reckless behavior.
There are no equal rights and money buys justice and liberty for all those who have it.
rich people do not go to jail
is any rich person EVER as accountable as the rest of us?
The family is messed up. The kid at 24 is messed up as well. Whether speeding is a crime is debatable. I say put him in rehab and/or counseling before he f%26#*s himself up more.

Will every Smoker that contravenes the Law be ticked off like Charles Kennedy or will they get a fine.?
I see that MPs are allowed to hypocritically smoke in their Work Place and an Enclosed Public Building.. (House of Parliament Bar).
Answer:
sorry have i missed something but wasent smoking banned on public transport ages ago not last sunday
If this is true then I am mightily pi$$ed off!
Those hypocritical fekkas!!
Currently most people WILL just be ticked off (or so the government assures us) - they'll start with a 'softly softly' approach, and then start slapping the fines out in a couple of months.
Of course being an MP probably helps...
fined .... thats a myth about the mp's bar
No.
MPs can do whatever they like. They are a cut above the rest of us and know it. Most of them are parasites and bed-bugs. There is a lot to be said for the old aristocracy.
Yep sure are hypocrites, Buckingham palace is excluded also!
If you are an incomprehensible alcoholic you can get away with almost anything
It will be a mixture of course
massive fine, what else?
Nanny will smack their hands and legs, and put them too bed early.
Good for Charles Kennedy, fight the system, but unfortunately for the rest of us, expect to get fined, after all this is a country of equality, but that depends on what side of the fence your on.

There's two conflicting reports, one has the dead guy being shot through the door, the other has the dead guy in the house.
If the former is true, the shooter should be arrested. If the latter is true, I'm fine with the guy getting off.

situation would be the same if that dog had
been a fox. He should have waited for the
police and then go over with a stick.

Will Edwards ever retract his "bumper sticker" comment?
Answer:
I don't see why he would retract it. You can't really retract a comment. You can apologize for it though.
Pardon me. I was distracted that hour. What bumper sticker comment?
Why should he ?
It is the truth
This administration has used the term "War on Terror" to garner support for its war in Iraq when the terrorists have been in Pakistan, and live and GROW.
The latest reports show that Al Queida has grown since 9-11 NOT dimininshed as it would have if we were really at WAR with them, NO instead we went into Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9-11.
THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IS SICK OF THIS PRESIDENT
SICK OF THIS WAR
SICK OF THESE CHILDISH TERMS (war on terrorism)
AND SICK OF NO RESULTS
I hope not. It is the truth.
