Will those who made libellous comments about the McCann family in FreeLawAnswer.com be arrested ?

There are two guilty parties in such a libel case, from what I have just read Yahoo is considered to be the publisher and the culprit is charged separately. All you need do is look at existing cases. I must say as an observer I am hoping for charges, my reading of current cases shows libel is an offence and already subject to legal action in several cases
Answer:
Carter-Ruck Media and Human Rights Lawyers in ur link at the bottom are in the UK and I think they could trace these scary weirdos, most of them seem 2 b here in this question.
The name and the time of posting will be enough to trace them.

Good onya
I don't know about the UK, but in the US libel is not a crime. It is a sad state of affairs if you outlaw speech in your country.
Im not getting involved.

xxx
The link you posted deals with threats made through email, not opinions of posters on a forum. Completely different.

No the people will not be charged with libel, even if charges were pursued.
Can I say Michael Moore is a fat, disgusting socialist weasel who is a heart attack waiting to happen because he can't exercise any self discipline whenever he's within 50 yards of a Taco Bell?

Book him, Dan-O.
OOOh lawks a mercy!!...This'll set the cat amongst the pigeons!!

You mark my words!

Oh my gawd atavacron...I think that's exactly what young Mr Sam is on about! Oh Crikey!!
What exactly has been said, in your "expert opinion", that is libellous? Surely it would be up to the McCann family lawyers to PROVE that anything said on here is NOT TRUE, and provide evidence to back up their claim? Methinks we might be waiting a while for that court case.
What are you on? Libel is not a crime, never has been and never will be. So you cannot be arrested. It is not a criminal matter but a civil matter. That means that he person who has been libelled can sue the nasty person who said bad things about them, with the idea of winning damages.

These cases are heard in the civil courts and not the criminal courts. There may have been some things said that could fall within some criminal law or another, I never saw them all, however, in the case of libel, it is a civil matter.

Edit:- Sam J, just read through most of the links and info you have added. Sorry chum, legally you are clutching at straws and full of wishful thinking. A lot of the stuff is from the USA, so forget it. None of the others are relevant to the matters you are so worked up about. You are reading and hearing what you want to hear but have no legal understanding. You are unable to see how the facts in any other matter have no relevance to the matter of the McCanns and what was said on Yahoo. Trust me on this. The more links you put on the bigger the fool you are making yourself out to be. Not being rude just being truthful. According to you, you can have me arrested for calling you a fool. Give up kid.
What are you on about? OOH! were all scared!! fool
why ?we live in a democracy, freedom of speech.
Depends on what is said and the evidence circulated in the media?
It all depends on the outcome - the so called 'libellous comments' could be true. Who knows?
YAWN.BORING!
Yahoo are certainly not shy of revealing identities, so they would not be liable, any more than you would be if I posted a libelous letter through your door.
However those who do the libelling should be careful, and thoughtful, they are talking about real people, even if they have almost mythical stature, it is unreasonable to make some of the remarks that I have seen, both tasteless, and accusatory.
It is fair enough to speculate as to whether they have committed a crime under Portuguese law in deserting their children, and whether they have been given special status as doctors.
It is completely out of order to impute other crimes to them. let alone the one I won't mention.
very unlikely as in the UK libel is only a civil matter
It should now be a criminal offence to speak of this matter on here...I for one am getting pretty sick of it all.

I very much doubt anyone wishes ill on Maddie or her family deep down, but this is a public forum and as such the public SHALL speak, whether this is with eloquence, knowledge sympathy, or any other emotion etc.

No one individual as a right to threaten or intimidate other users by quoting libel laws at them...

You fashion yourself as an observer...I suggest you continue to observe and let those of us who would look at cases of libel and deal with them do our jobs if libel is present.
Your two-bit scare tactics to quiet opinions you do not agree with appears to have fallen on its face.

In the future, spend less time in front of the TV/Computer and more time reading books. Maybe a little education on your part will make your arguments at least sound like you know what you are talking about.
