Why is it illegal to have a ferret in California?

What threat can a little ferret possibly posses?
Answer:
The reason that ferrets are illegal in California is ignorance. The CDFG (California Department of Fish and Game) would have you believe that based off of an 18 year old study with no actual documentation to back up its "findings" that ferrets pose a threat to the local wildlife and would decimate certain populations of endangered species. What is almost humorous about this claim is that California is the only state in the continental United States to declare ferrets illegal as pets. In fact in the many years that ferrets have been legal in other states, there HAS NOT BEEN A SINGLE documented case of feral ferrets forming colonies in the wild. IN FACT their cousins, the black footed ferrets are one of the worlds most endangered species. It has also been reported by government tests that ferrets are 1000 times less likely to cause a serious bite than a dog is. The reason is ignorance. The more people that do research for themselves, the better off the ferret is. For more info check out www.legalizeferrets.org
ferrets are very active and are gatherers. if they get loose, they can wreak havoc in busy cities like LA
No it's not illegal (IF YOU OWN A ZOO). But for the general public you may not simply have one as a pet or for security purposes, or for scientific experiments(let's not go there).

As for a threat, just imagine one running up your pant leg looking for nuts.
because they are filthy disgusting beasts that only a loser would keep as a pet.
