Why is it illegal to take off mattress tags?

Answer:
We used to joke about the mattress and pillow police catching up with us someday...

The labels cannot be legally removed except by the consumer who purchases them. I guess at some point in time, there was a problem with sellers removing labels to misrepresent the quality of the product.
Yes, if you are selling the mattress
You can remove them. The tag is only to protect the buyer. That would be you.
The owner of the mattress is aloud to take the tag off if they want too it says that on the tag. The Manufactures are not aloud to take it off probally because it has important info. on the tag that the buyer might want to read.
its only illegal if u take it off when u didnt buy it. if u bought it u can take it off. the tag says something like this tag cannot be removed by anyone other than the buyer
It is only meant for the merchant to not remove the tag. It is not against the law for a customer to do so after they bought the item. I usually leave them intact in case something goes wrong with it in a short period of time, and it needs to be taken back.
Once you have possesion of your mattress it is perfectly legal to remove it. I think the warning is for the seller, not the buyer.
