Why is the symbol of justice a woman? For the longest time she was not allowed to be in the legal profession?
Answer:
Not only was the symbol related to the Roman goddess, but the female image throughout history has always been more benevolent than a male figure.
People want Justice tempered with mercy, and therefore a female image for the symbol of justice.
