why should the N. Korea be given oil for breaking a treaty that they agreed to back in 1994 I think? All they are doing is shutting down the reactors at this time. What is going to stop them from firing them back up and generating more nucelar weapons? To me this sounds like like a payoff for not breaking an agreement. What is say other countries won't do the same so they can receive compensation for breaking the law. who is going to pay for the oil? There are larger issues at hand rather than the money. Lets just pay all the countries not to do illegal activites!!!
Answer:
Well actually, if you read up on the article's printed.
It's not very much oil, and it is the worst grade of oil there is.
A grade of oil thats not even used in the US.
It's called diplomacy.
What would you have us do ? nuke north korea
Our President Bush made a New Deal with North Korea.
President Bush knows best. Just follow our leader.
Neville Chamberlain would love this deal..
typical GOP appeasement
As soon as they get their oil they'll start working on the reactors again and everybody knows it. It is a payoff and it was one last time also but they never keep their end of the bargain
the price of oil is a bargain compared to the price of the life of one person THAT FIGHTS in a WAR.
Bush finally realized that yelling at them and calling them names just made the North Koreans madder. Now he鈥檚 seriously backtracking, trying to bribe them and trying to reinstate Clinton鈥檚 diplomatic efforts but of course it鈥檚 too late.
The North Koreans have made great nuclear progress in the last few years and have been working on delivery systems.
And what is your suggestion? Invade N. Korea to shut down the reactors.Oh.thats right our military is bogged down in Iraq... Or, we could have simply refused to negotiate and let them develope weapons
Didn't Clinton build and give the reactors to N Korea, yes he did. North Korea is basically nothing, they act up, get money and become quite for awhile- and repeat.
We didn't know there was anything but broken treaties. That's what this country was founded on.
